In the summer of 1995, fresh out of high school, I toured with the Blue Lake International Youth Symphony Orchestra. Visiting Europe and playing "their music" was both exhilarating and intimidating. It was there that I met three fellow bassists that became close friends; Charles Grantier, Jeremy Maloney and the Godfather, Brian Del Bianco. "Un Peu de Tristesse" (A Bit of Sadness) was written as a doublebass trio and farewell gift to these guys as I left a week early for college.
